This weekend my wife and I had the opportunity to head out to dinner our anniversary of which we wanted to try something new in Lewes. First, historic Lewes is a “Hallmark” town that pulls you back in time. Well kept colonial and victorian styled homes line the streets and much of the homes’ architectural accents are well preserved. It is a must see when in the area!
We chose Striper Bites on Savannah Rd, Lewes, DE. Although appearing as a quaint bristo from the outside, seating is plentiful for families and bar patrons. Hospitality was excellent from greeting through table service. To start, we had the Shrimp Tempura Sushi which was well prepared and very tasteful, plenty to share with 2-4 guests. I had the Lewes style Rockfish entree which was very flavorful: filet of Rockfish over a bed of sautéed spinach with roasted potatoes and tomatoes. My wife had the Striper Bites Club made with blackened Mahi Mahi topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato and Caesar dressing. We were extremely please with the food preparation and service even though there were a few items unavailable which we understand in a smaller restaurant and given the time of day.
